30-Year-Old Woman Removes Her Man’s Teeth With A Slap In Lagos

A 30-year-old woman, Abiodun Olajide, has pleaded guilty to removing her man friend’s teeth with slap while the duo engaged in fisticuffs.

Olajide was also said to have inflicted wounds on Augustine Olukukoyi at their residence at Oguntolu, Somolu, Lagos State.

She was arraigned on a one count charge of assault.

The charge sheet reads, ‘That you, Abiodun Olajide, female, on April 18, 2013, at about 8.30 hours at Oguntolu Street, Somolu, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did inflict wound on one Augustine Olukukoyi, male, by slapping him, as a result removed two teeth and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 244(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011’

When the charge was read, she pleaded guilty.

The matter, which was adjourned until April 29 for judgment at Court 4, Yaba, could not hold because the magistrate was said to be ill.

White Fans Beg Emeka Ike For Autographs In The U.S. [PICTURED]

Actor Emeka Ike seems to have put behind him the pain of the recent loss of the Actors' Guild of
Nigeria (AGN) leadership to Ibinabo Fiberesima.

Splendor magazine exclusively gathered that Emeka Ike was in the U.S sometimes back where he took the opportunity to complete his role in a Hollywood movie which he has been working on for a while now.

Just as the saying goes, "a prophet has no honour in his town", the climax of it all was that some white Americans who saw how well the Nollywood star acted during the shoot, began to rush him, jostling for his autographs. Na wa ooo..

Man handed 45-year prison term for stealing Governor's Phone

A 31 year old named Kevin Ighodalo (pictured above), has been sentenced to 45 years imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court for stealing a Sony Ericsson phone said to be worth about N50,000 belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. Below is how Punch is reporting it
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27, 2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three counts and five years for each of the last three which included impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.
Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jail term, held that the convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen Rahman, an associate of the governor.
The jail term, which Falola pronounced will run concurrently, means that Ighodalo will spend the next 10 years behind bars.
Assistant principal state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora, told the court that the convict had served six-year imprisonment in Ikoyi prison custody in connection with a murder case in 2005.
Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to commit him to community service, stressing that the convict should not be incarcerated but rather be placed where people could see him as a convict.

Two men chopped off their own hands so they can claim £2million in insurance

Two Spanish scroungers who chopped off their own hands and tried to claim the insurance payout have been exposed as cheats - because they performed the amputations so well.

The unnamed men, whose cases are not linked, both thought they could pocket up to £2million if they could hoodwink insurers into believing unforeseen accidents had caused their injuries.

They are among a wave of penniless desperados in recession-ravaged Spain who are increasingly turning to more extreme measures to make ends meet.

Power fool: Incredibly, one of the men used a chainsaw to amputate his hand but told insurers it had been torn off in a car crash

Authorities said the first claimant removed his hand with an electric saw but told insurers it had been ripped off in a car accident.

He then made claims to 11 insurance companies demanding £2million in compensation.

But when medics examined his wound, it became clear that the cut was 'too clean' to have been torn in two.

José Luís Nieto, president of Gesterec, which investigates accidents, said: 'The cut was too clean between the bone for a car crash, which is never so clean.

'This man might have got someone to use a saw to cut off his hand. A surgeon would never have done it.'

The second man chopped off his arm above the elbow and claimed €600,000 from insurers, saying that he had suffered an accident with an electric saw.

Both cases come amid a steep rise in the number of false insurance claims that have been revealed since Spain plunged into recession in 2008.

The Investigation Co-operative of Insurance Companies (ICEA) said that there had been a 50 per cent increase in the past five years.

'There is no doubt that there has been a rise in false cases because people do not have any money in the crisis,' Mr Nieto said.

Even Spain's criminal gangs are getting a slice of the action, simulating car crashes and reaping the insurance money under false names. Investigators said they should have won Oscar, such was their web of deceit.

Nigeria Is A Poor Country - Ngozi Okonjo Iweala

Africa's most populous nation, Nigeria, is full of promise. But fulfilling that promise is often a struggle.

Plagued by corruption and mismanagement, the resource-rich country has a poverty rate of over 50%.
Maternal mortality is shockingly high and more than half of Nigerians don't have access to electricity, according to the World Bank:

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the country’s finance minister and the former World Bank official has been lauded as the reformer Nigeria needs. But she too isn't immune from Nigeria's problems – her own mother was kidnapped for a terrifying five days before being released.

President Goodluck Jonathan promised to address corruption in the country. Nevertheless, a former governor – an ally of Jonathan – has been convicted of embezzling million in public funds and has since been pardoned.

“Nigeria does have a problem with corruption and so do many other countries,” Okonjo-Iweala told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an interview that aired Tuesday. “I don’t like the fact that when people mention the name Nigeria the next thing they mention is corruption.” Technology could be the answer the problem, Okonjo-Iweala believes.

“We must build electronic platforms. We must distance people from the money. These things were recommended by the world bank and IMF,” she told Amanpour. “We are doing them.”
President Jonathan is calling for the judiciary, the legislative and the executive arm to meet together about this issue all together for the time first Okonjo-Iweala said.
“Because even if you catch somebody, if they go to courts and they are let off lightly the president can’t do anything about that. The judicial system also has to be strengthened,” she said.

“This is a country of 170 million people; 99.9 percent of them are honest, hard-working citizens who just want to get on with their lives,” Okonjo-Iweala said, proudly. “And they want a government that delivers for them.”

Oil should be Nigeria’s saving grace, but oil leakage causes a significant drain on the economy:

“We are still a poor country,” she admitted. “We can’t afford any leakage.”
On top of that, there is immense oil theft, which Okonjo-Iweala puts at 150,000 barrels stolen a day. She compared the situation to Mexico, which sees tens of thousands of barrels stolen each day. “We need them to treat this oil like stolen diamonds. The blood diamonds,” she said – calling on the international community for assistance. “Make it blood oil. Help us so those people don’t have a market to sell this stuff.”

Nigeria is also plagued by problems with its electrical grid:

When the country’s president last appeared on CNN, he told Amanpour, “That is one area that Nigerians are quite pleased with the government, that's a commitment to improve power. It's working. So if you are saying something different, I'm really surprised.”

That interview caused an uproar in Nigeria, with many of the county’s very active social media citizens taking to Twitter and Facebook to voice their frustrations with the power grid and President Jonathan’s comments.

Okonjo-Iweala said the power problems all come down to previous government’s lack of investment.

“If you've neglected a sector for that long, you've not invested, you've not even maintained your basic facilities, it's not going to happen that fast. It takes time,” she said.

While Nigerians often complain of power outages – telling CNN they often have to use generators to watch the news channel – Okonjo-Iweala maintained there has been improvement.

“That month, when you interviewed the president," she said, referring to Amanpour's previous interview of Jonathan, "the polls showed, independently, scientifically that they are in technical partnership with dialogue. That 54 percent of Nigerians felt there was some improvement,” she told Amanpour.

“Nigeria is not the only country. Almost every developing country has a problem with power, as you know. India has it. South Africa has it. South Africa is far better off because they've invested much more.
But many developing countries, even China, they are struggling with keeping up with infrastructure,” she said.

Okonjo-Iweala said that the administration has accepted that the government is not the best place to run the power sector.

“If we want this country and this economy to do better, we just have to get out. And Nigeria is pursuing one of the most sweeping privatization programs in any country in the world,” she said. “We are selling off everything.”

Wizkid Is Still Signed To E.M.E - Banky W

While partying with 2face in Dubai, Banky W in an exclusive interview had this to say:
"It's all bad belle people, they think there may be bad news and when you don't give them that news they start to create it because bad news sells more than good news.

First of all (go down low...lol), there was no twitter fight, people go online and use photoshop to create my profile and then they go and create Wizkid's profile and say he said this and that - even when it never happened. What happened is that we have been working on Wizzy's project to make it work internationally and when you are getting to that level, things change.

He has his own idea of what he wants to do and we are in 100% support of that and these were the things we dreamed of back in 2009 when I signed him....Wizkid is still signed to the E.M.E!!!

On Wizkid's starboy entertainment, he said "well you know that is something else he wants to do, he wants to start his record label just like I started mine then and see where I am today. You have a lot of people fabricating stuff and trying to make it feel like there is a battle and you know we don't believe in that...we are all mature and grown up people...he is absolutely and still part of the family..."

When asked "how does it work for him to have star boy entertainment and still be part of E.M.E"
he said, "I would give you a fantastic example, Kanye West has GOOD MUSIC and he is still with Rock Nation, ROCKAFELLA...I rest my case"

News is just reaching us that the once-upon-a-time relationship between the two giant entertainers, D’banj and Don Jazzy has just been renewed as they both settled their long time rift today.

Don Jazzy in his word told the king that D’banj started it all but the Oba who said he wasn’t going to apportion any blame to any of them, asked the two to touch the royal staff and promised to be friends again.
As you are reading this, the two are already together again working on how to revive their Mo’hits entertainment outfit.
