Photographer Drags 2Face, Annie Idibia To Court Over Wedding Pictures

October 16, 2013 has been fixed by
Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal
High Court sitting in Lagos, for the
commencement of trial in a N120
million copyright suit filed against music
star, Innocent Idibia, popularly known
as 2Face, his wife, Annie Idibia and
their manager, Anthonio Anifite over
photographs allegedly taken at the
recent traditional wedding of the music
icon and his wife in Akwa Ibom State.
Emmanuel Okolo, an Abuja based
photographer alongside his studio,
Papilonmexy is asking for six reliefs, two
of which include N100 million in general
damages and N20million in exemplary
damages.
Neither 2Face nor his wife was
represented in court at the resumed
hearing of the case yesterday. Their
manager, Anifite was however
represented by his counsel, J.O Uttute.
Meanwhile, a mild drama ensued when
the judge openly admonished Uttute
after claiming he had filed his defence
when he had not done so.
The judge, apparently irked, warned him
not to show up in court again if he was
not prepared for the case. “You told me
that you have filed your response, but
looking through here, there is nothing
to that effect. And you are even
smiling.
Do you think you are here to joke?
Never come to this court again if you
are not prepared. You don’t even know
when the case was filed and you are
not prepared for it,” the judge said.
Also, the plaintiff’s counsel, Habeeb
Oredola expressed worry over the
defendants’ inability to appear before
the court or be represented by a
counsel after they were served with the
writs of summon.
In the writ of summon, Okolo and his
studio claimed they were contracted by
2Face’s wife through a third party,
identified as Ms Chineze Anyaene to
take photo shots at the traditional
wedding held in Eket, Akwa Ibom state
in March, 2013.
The plaintiff said, he was reluctant at
the beginning since the offer was
coming through a third party, but later
accepted after he was convinced that
the offer was actually with the blessing
of the first defendant.

22 -year-old man arrested for molesting UNILAG student

22-year-old man, Bashorun arrested for molesting UNILAG student Babatunde Bashorun, 22, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for alleged kidnap and molestation of  a female undergraduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka. According to the police, Babajide Bashorun who is a dog breeder, did not
only molest his victim, he also took
photographs of her unclad body which he allegedly posted on the internet. A family source revealed, “Few days later, the pictures were all over the internet. The picture had the name and surname of
the girl, her university, age department and course of study. People were stopping her on the campus to tell her they had seen her unclad pictures on the Internet.
“The girl’s relations later saw the pictures and urged her parents to report the matter at Adeniji Adele Police Division.” After the matter was reported to the police, Policemen from Adeniji Adele
Police Division arrested Bashorun.
A senior officer from the station, who pleaded anonymity, told Punch that the police were still on the trail of two undergraduates of UNILAG identified as Mayowa and Ademuyiwa, both 400 level
Architecture students, who the police accused of complicity in the crime. Detectives from Adeniji Adele Police Station are said to be working on the theory that the pictures were leaked to
the Internet through the duo of Mayowa and Ademuyiwa.
When he was being questioned, Bashorun said he only sent photos of the girl to Mayowa, who in turn sent them to
Ademuyiwa.Bashorun denied beating his victim as alleged by her family. He said they had been dating for long and he had spent a
lot of money on her. “She is my girlfriend. I wanted to buy ipad
for her. I was able to raise about
N70,000. She came to my house to
collect the money on that day.
“We had argument and I used floor mop to hit her on her back. I now took her pictures. I sent the pictures to my friend,
but I didn’t tell him to post the pictures on internet.”
Confirming Bashorun’s arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide said, “We charged him to court yesterday (Tuesday) . We are still looking
for his accomplices who are on the run”

Keshi wants Yobo, Odemwingie back

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, has
insisted that he is ready to welcome back
Osaze Odemwingie and skipper Joseph
Yobo into his team.
The Big Boss and the players, have
become estranged after they expressed
their anger at their exclusion from this
squad, without proper communication.
However, after seeing some of his
inexperienced players flop at the
Confederations Cup, the former Togo boss
is eager to have some experienced faces
back.
“They should just be themselves, play
their game,” Keshi told KickOff. “Yobo is
still my captain. It’s unfortunate that he’s
not here, but he’s still the captain of the
team.
“Taiwo is still playing but I have younger
players that are playing well. I have
Juwon, who is not here. I have Benjamin
Francis, and I have Echiejile whose
performance has improved greatly. So it
will be a difficult thing for Taiwo to get
back in.
“For Osaze, he still has a place in
the team. I’m not looking for an
apology from him. Osaze is
somebody that I like very well and he
knows that. The thing is, it’s about the
team that I’m worried about.
“I don’t want to have a player that will
come in and divide the team, or want to
come and do something to destabilize the
team, because when the team is not
together, it becomes very difficult to win.
“I’m not saying he is going to come in and
do that, but a little bit of what he has
shown has told me that this is possible.
“I really want to have him in the team,
and I would like to give him another
opportunity.”
Keshi also admitted that Obinna Nsofor
has not featured in his plans so far,
because the forward has always been
injured whenever he called him up and
revealed that Martins was still in his
thoughts.
“The person I am really keen to have is
Obinna Nsofor. Unfortunately, each time I
call him, he’s always injured. Hopefully
next time he will be fit.
“Martins is coming back gradually. The last
two call-ups he wasn’t in good shape but
I needed to play him.”

This babe says she's suffering because

but don't know how to go about it.
See what she wrote about her love
crisis below:
"I use to think one of the reasons why
my bf loved me was the fact that i liked
photographs more than anything, to the
extent i went ahead and bought a very
expensive camera .
In my many charades of snapping myself
i discovered i liked this particular one
very much and i wanted my friends to
see and probably comment on it so i
decided to drop it on facebook only to
eventually end up with a breakup.
Please you have to help me cos i love
him so much."
But, if there is love, is that photo
enough to cause a break up?

Reasons Obama won’t visit Nigeria – US

Although Nigeria is the giant of Africa and expected to be considered for a visit by the US President Barack Obama, reasons have been stated by the
United States why this will not happen. President Obama will be embarking on a three-nation trip to Africa. According to US officials, the ongoing insecurity appeared to be responsible for the exclusion of Nigeria  in Obama’s second visit to the continent. Obama is
scheduled to visit Senegal Tanzania and South Africa. The US government said the
trip would focus on trade and investment,
democratic institution-building, young
people, and enhancing  economic growth.
American Deputy National Security
Advisor, Ben Rhodes, made this
clarifications at a briefing on Tuesday. The
briefing was addressed jointly with the
Senior Director for African Affairs, Grant
Harris and Senior Director for
Development and Democracy Gayle
Smith, on Obama’s upcoming visit. The
text of the briefing was made available to
journalists in Abuja by the Information
Office of the Public Affairs Section of the
US Embassy. Rhodes said, “With respect
to Nigeria, we certainly believe that
Nigeria is a fundamentally important
country to the future of Africa. We’ve put
a lot of investment in the relationship
with Nigeria through their leadership of
ECOWAS, through the significant US
business investment in Nigeria and
through our security cooperation.
“Obviously, Nigeria is working through
some very challenging security issues
right now. And in that process, they’re
going to be a partner of the United
States. We certainly believe we’ll have an
opportunity to further engage the
Nigerian government through bilateral
meetings going forward. But at this point,
we just were not able to make it to
Nigeria on this particular itinerary. “I will
say that we purposefully designed the
itineraries to be able to reach West Africa,
South Africa and East Africa, and in West
Africa, to visit Senegal, a French-speaking,
Muslim-majority democracy that is an
important partner of the United States
and also provides a platform for the
President to speak to the broader region.
“We are also looking at ways, at the
President’s town hall in South Africa with
young African leaders, to draw in through
technology young people in Nigeria and in
Kenya, among other places, so that the
President is using this trip to speak to the
broader African audience. We recognize
we’d like to go to as many countries as
possible.’’

Why is Akon Looking at Actress Omotola's Boobs?

I bet this guy [looks like Akon,is that him?] wont have anything to look at if Omotola had dressed properly, at least wear something that will cover her oranges properly. Please ladies, men are moved by what they see. It is in them to 'lust' atimes,
but you can help by first dress in a way that would make you more decent and the men will be the gentle men they

A MUST READ: Ladies, Amazing Steps To Attract Your Desired Man

Hello single ladies! Yes, you are waiting
for that Prince Charming that would come
sweep you off your feet. But, have you
made yourself a cinderella? You know that
saying – Birds of a feather flock together,
huh? So, what are those steps you need
to take to be a Cinderella?

1. Get Busy – Don’t spend all your time
jumping from clubs to beach parties.
Some ladies think these are avenues to
‘catch’ the rich handsome dudes, while on
their parts, they don’t have something
reasonable they are doing with life. If you
are in school, be serious minded. I am
not saying you shouldn’t catch your fun
and have your leisure periods, after all
works and no play makes Jill a dull girl,
but you shouldn’t take your academics for
granted and much time should be
devoted to work than play. Not in school?
You can learn a particular trade, say dress
making which is really in vogue, which in
the end would be a source of income to
you. When you finally meet Prince
Charming, he is not going to play around
you…he is going to appreciate that you
are busy and hard working. Trust me, a
guy don’t spend a long time before ‘wife-
ing’ that kind of lady.

2. Learn How To Cook – It is alarming that
some ladies can’t perform kitchen duties.
Okay! Some ladies are actually waiting for
the ‘tech people’ to manufacture phones
that would cook food and even serve
it….lol.
I don’t think that would be possible
anyway. Prince charming has been eating
in eateries and fast food joints, he is
looking forward to that time when
Cinderella would serve him food in his
house, prepared with her own hands.
Anyway, if you are still a novice in
cookery, you should learn now before he
comes. You can browse the internet, ask
your friends to or get books that would
teach you how to cook meals. Remember,
the way to a man’s heart is his belly
(winks).

"Jonathan will divide Nigeria"- Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief
Femi Fani-Kayode, has alleged that
President Goodluck Jonathan would
attempt to split the country, if he does
not win the 2015 general elections.
The former minister said the President
has divided the Nigeria Governors’
Forum (NGF).
He said the interference of the
Presidency in the internal affairs and
the subsequent division of the NGF
were part of a game plan and a “clear
indication that should President
Goodluck Jonathan lose next election,
he will plot for the division of the
country”.
Fani-Kayode, who addressed reporters
yesterday in Minna, the Niger State
capital, wondered why a loser of an
election would declare himself the
winner because he enjoyed the backing
of the Presidency, thereby splitting the
NGF.
Fani-Kayide expressed optimism that
opposition parties would terminate the
continued reign of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in the next
general elections.
The former minister, however, said the
nation should prepare for a possible
attempt to split the country when the
PDP government fails at the poll.
He said: “It is only in Nigeria that a
loser with the backing of the Presidency
can declare himself the winner, leading
to the splitting of NGF. This is a
prerequisite for 2015. When the
President is defeated, he will declare
himself winner, the same way it
happened in the NGF. He will try to
split the country the same way he did
to the NGF.”

With the battle against global warming still being fought heavily, electric cars are one of the science’s weapons in the war.

The car, which stands for zero emissions, on demand, can hit speeds of up to 185 mph..

SHOCKING: Nanny Sets Four Children Ablaze

24-year-old Jessica Tata from Texas, is
facing life in prison for the death of the
four young kids who were left in her care.
Prosecutors allege that she went shopping
at Walmart while leaving her daycare
children home alone, when a fire broke
out killing four young children.
Tata was seen on the security cameras
shopping at Walmart. It is believed that
the fire started after Tata left a frying pan
with oil on a stove while she went out to
run errands.
Two days after the incident, Tata fled to
Nigeria. She was later arrested and
extradited to the United States after a
joint effort of the U.S. Marshals and
Interpol.
The fire killed Shomari Dickerson, Kendyll
Stradford, Elias Castillo and Elizabeth
Kajoh, all less than three years old. Three
other children in her care were left in
critical condition and they were taken to
the Shriner’s burn hospital.
Tracy Storms, who lost her grandson
Shomari in the fire, told reporters: “Sorry,
there is no forgiveness for anyone who
makes an income watching children and
has an audacity to leave them alone even
for a second. I don’t understand how this
woman can look herself in the mirror
knowing that she destroyed seven
children.”
This was not her first brush with fire. In
2002 Tata was accused of setting fire to
the building of her schools. “We were told
that Jessica had set a fire in not one but
two places. She had set fire to the east
wing and the west wing with toilet paper
hanging from the ceiling,” a classmate
said.
Tata is facing life in prison for murder,
reckless injury and neglect, but her
lawyers are arguing that she never
intended to harm the children, therefore
a murder charge is too harsh.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos

by JAMB, The Vice Chancellor of the University of

Reason Behind Boko Haram’s Target On Students.

The trend of sneaking in to carry out
isolated attacks on soft targets like
students is a typical end-game strategy
often employed by insurgents all over the
world. This was made known by the
defence headquarters on wednesday.
They also said the killings of scores of
people in Borno and Yobe in the past few
days are signs that the Boko Haram
terrorists are losing the battle against
government forces.
Seven secondary school students and two
teachers were killed in Damaturu, the
Yobe State capital when gunmen, believed
to be Boko Haram, attacked a
government school on Sunday. A day
later, suspected Boko Haram gunmen
attacked two different locations, a school
and a fishing village, in Maiduguri, Borno
State capital, killing nine students and 13
fishermen.
In a statement signed by the Director of
Defence Information, Brigadier General
Chris Olukolade, the Nigerian military said
the recent activities are signs of
desperation of a decimated insurgent
group attempting to hang on to public
consciousness.
With the destruction of their operational
bases and camps by the Special Forces,
the group’s centre of gravity had been
effectively dislocated, he said. He said this
had made it impossible for the terrorists
to have freedom of action to operate as
they did previously.
The military also said eight of the
suspected terrorists have been
apprehended in the outskirts of
Maiduguri.
The statement said Special Forces have
stepped up the mop-up, cordon and
search operations “to ensure that the
vestiges of terrorism are effectively
decimated.
“The DHQ has noted a number of attacks
and killing of innocent citizens ostensibly
carried out by terrorists in Yobe and
Borno in the last couple of days.
“Although this isolated incidents were
undertaken by relocating terrorists, the
whole trend and development remains
unfortunate and condemnable.
“Nevertheless, the public is hereby
reassured that these incidences are by no
means indicative of a relapse in the
counter-insurgency operation aimed at
curbing terrorists’ activities in the
country.”
The military, however, urged the public to
continue to report any suspicious
movement to security agents.

A baby is born with Quran in Lagos

A baby is born with Quran in Lagos
This is another shocking but not strange
happening.
This is how PM News reported it.
Residents from various parts of Lagos
have been coming to catch a glimpse of a
baby allegedly born with a miniature
Quran at 9, Oguntade Street, Shasha area
of the state. (crowd at the residence
where the baby was born)
Incidents like these are scientifically
impossible, but residents of the area say
it is true even though some of them
confessed that they did not see the baby
clutching the miniature Quran, the holy
book of the Muslims. They were only told
about it.
It took efforts for P.M.NEWS reporters to
gain access into the one-room apartment
of the baby’s parents as a result of the
crowd that took over the place.
The mother of the baby, Kabirat Lamidi, a
32-year old hairstylist, said right from the
conception of the baby, she had been
sick.
She said when the baby refused to come
out after 11 months, she went for a scan
where it was shown that she had an
object in the womb with the baby.
The Ede, Osun State indigene who said
she had been married for 10 years, said
she was shocked to discover that few
seconds after the baby was delivered, she
pushed out a Quran.
“I have been hearing about such incidents
and I have always insulted people
thinking it could never happen. I believe
it is a gift from Allah,” she said.
She said as a Muslim, she was not even
dedicated and did not know how to pray,
expressing surprise that such an incident
could happen to her.
The mother of three said she had always
given birth in the hospital but that on this
day, she went into labour so fast that she
could not move.
“My advice to people is that they should
henceforth watch their mouth. I didn’t
believe before now,” she said.
Mrs. Saudat Olawuwo, a staff nurse with
the Shasha Medical Centre who assisted
with the delivery, said she was called by
neighbours when the woman was in
labour.
Mrs. Olawuwo with 17 years working
experience, said the woman was
supposed to put to birth on 16 May, but
it did not happen.
“By the time I came the day she was in
labour, the baby was already coming out.
So I assisted her.
“After that, we were expecting the
placenta, but the woman began behaving
like one about to run mad. I was so
confused.
“The woman was shouting that she
wanted to push again and all of a sudden,
the Quran, wrapped in nylon and stained
with blood jumped out.
“Out of confusion, I ran out and called
people who came to see. We also called a
Muslim cleric around the area who came
and prayed for the baby,” she said.
Father of the baby, Luqman Lamidi, said
he was in a drinking bar when he was
called and told that his wife had delivered
a baby with a Quran.
He said he did not believe until he came
and saw the Quran covered with blood.
“I arrived home and saw a lot of crowd
and could not even enter. In fact, I am
surprised that a drunk like me could
produce a child that came into this world
with a Quran,” he said, adding that he had
become a changed person.
Chief Imam of Oguntade, Shasha, Alhai
AbdulRafiu Opeloyeru Oyedokun, said he
was the one who tore the nylon from the
Quran after he was called to the place.
“When I came, people were still doubting
if the object was a Quran or not, so I tore
the nylon with blood on it publicly and
everyone confirmed it.”
As the yet to be named baby boy lay
asleep, P.M.NEWS noticed that each time
the Quran is placed on his chest, he
consistently lifted his hands up and would
not drop the hands until the Quran is
taken off.
There was a big controversy in May last
year following the alleged birth of a baby
boy said to be clutching a miniature Holy
Quran at birth.
The baby was born at a white garment
church in Mushin, Lagos State, Southwest
Nigeria.
While some disputed the claim, others
said it was possible. A large crowd
gathered at 1, Sonde Street, Ijeshatedo,
Lagos home of the boy’s parents as news
of the birth spread rapidly.
His mother, Mrs. Kikelomo Ilori, 32, a
Cosmetologist, told P.M.NEWS that he
was born after she had carried the
pregnancy for about 10 months.
“When my baby was delivered holding a
Quran in his hand, the nurse said the
Quran should be thrown away. But I
insisted my mother must see it before
any action could be taken,” Kikelomo,
who is a Christian, further explained.
Corroborating the story, Senior Rev.
Victoria Yetunde Dada said during the
pregnancy, Kikelomo was always coming
to her for prayers and counselling.
“I advised her not to abort the pregnancy
because she might die in the process.
Again, I told her the foetus was sent by
God and will be great,” Apostle Mother
Dada told our correspondent.
Reacting, Medical Director of Bodet
Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, Dr. Bode Tawak
said scientifically, it was not possible for a
baby to be born holding a Quran.
“How big is the baby’s hand to hold the
Quran? How big is the Quran? How did
the Quran get into her mother’s womb? I
don’t know how a Quran can get into a
womb. But there are things you can’t
explain,” Dr. Tawak responded.
He said while the incident cannot be
explained medically, in Nigeria many
mysterious things happen.
A Kaduna-based medical practitioner, Dr.
Munir Yusuf said from a medical point of
view, it was not possible, but added that
depending on the size of the Quran, it
was possible metaphysically.
He explained that if the Quran is small
enough to pass through the diameter of
the vagina, with the child, it is possible.
In the same vein, a herbal medicine
practitioner, Chief Dr. Bola Adegunloye
believes nothing is impossible, but said
too much importance must not be placed
on the incident.

Education: JAMB Announces Official Cut Off-Marks 2013/2014

The Minister of Education, Ruqayatu
Rufai, has announced the cut-off
marks for students that sat for the
2013 Joint Admission and
Matriculation Board, JAMB, higher
institution examinations. The
minister announced that the cut-off
mark would be 180 for universities,
and 150 for polytechnics and colleges
of education.
With the current situation where
various universities hold post-UME
examinations, it implies that all
students who score above 180 should
be allowed to sit for the post-UME
examinations in the universities
they chose.
Mrs. Rufa’i announced the cut-off
points at the Fourth Combined Policy
Meeting on Admission to Degree-
Awarding Institutions, National
Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in
Education (NCE) and National
Innovation Diploma (NID) awarding
institutions.
She said the meeting was to plan for
the selection of qualified candidates
into the nations tertiary institutions
and also to restore confidence in the
education system.
“I implore all stakeholders to follow
the Federal Government’s guidelines
on admission which stipulates a 70:30
Technology/Non-Technology ratio for
ND programmes.
“Also, 60:40 Science/Arts ratio for
Degree and Nigeria Certificate in
Education programmes and also to
observe the criteria on merit,
catchments and educationally less
developed states.
“In addition, we must not forget the
carrying-capacity of our institutions
as approved by the accrediting
bodies,’’ she said.
According to her, the accreditation
bodies are the National Universities
Commission (NUC), National Board
for Technical Education (NBTE) and
National Commission for Colleges of
Education (NCCE).
Mrs. Rufa’i said in order to enhance
the carrying capacities of the
country’s institutions the ministry
had undertaken continuous
development and rehabilitation of
infrastructure in the institutions of
higher learning.
She, however, said the Tertiary
Education Trust Fund had disbursed
N256.4 billion over the past three
years for diverse development
activities in the institutions. She said
that at the polytechnic level all the 51
Federal and state and polytechnics
had benefited from rehabilitation
and upgrading of their laboratories
to 21st century standards at a total of
N15 billion. She said that this had
helped to enhance the teaching and
learning process in the institutions.
She also said that work had also
started on the construction of micro-
teaching laboratories in our colleges
of education.
The minister also said that all
Federal Colleges of Education and
one state College of Education per
state would benefit from this, making
a total of 58 institutions at a cost of
N11.6 billion.
“I am pleased that these
interventions continue to translate to
expanded carrying capacity in our
institutions. For this academic year,
we expect carrying capacity to
increase from 400,691 admitted last
year to over 500,000.
“I urge all institutions to carefully
examine their carrying capacities in
relation to their expanding
infrastructure. You must make sure
that you fill the quota for each
course,” she said.
She called on all institutions to
adhere to the admission timetable as
prepared by the Joint Admission and
Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Mrs. Rufa’i commended JAMB on the
successful conduct of the 2013 UTME.
The Registrar of JAMB, Professor
Dibu Ojerinde, said the meeting was
to prepare grounds for needed
capital development to engineer the
Nigerian Technological growth that
would be attained through quality
and functional education of the
citizens.
“Let me remind all the federal
institutions that the ratio of 45:35:20
for merit, catchment and
educationally less-developed states,
respectively, is still in force and
should be adhered to strictly to
ensure national cohesion.
“All Nigerians must be given the
opportunity to mix and educate
freely in any part of the country,” he
said.
Mr. Ojerinde also said the ratio of
40:40:20 for merit, catchment and
educationally less-developed states
must be adhered to in state-owned
institutions.

Smoking Will Be Banned Soon In Nigeria - FG

The Federal Government, on Thursday, said smoking would soon be banned in the country as soon as the Anti-Tobacco Bill before the National Assembly was passed into law.
It also disclosed its readiness to convene a Universal Health Coverage to help boost strategies towards improving healthcare delivery.
Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who spoke in Abuja, at a ministerial platform, insisted that the Federal Government could no longer condone smoking.
He asked rhetorically: “Why are you smoking? Why are you taking what will kill you? What benefit do you derive from smoking?”
Professor Chukwu listed his achievements in office in the last two years to include establishment of National Trauma Centres in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and the National Hospital, Abuja; completion of Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi, Abuja; completion of Laboratory and Administrative building of the Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja, and rehabilitation and equipping of several teaching hospitals in the country.
The minster disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan increased funding for polio eradication to N4.7billion and made further commitment of N2.5billion this year with a Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication constituted to help in the fight against the disease.
He said, “today in Nigeria, seven of our teaching hospitals can do kidney transplant. This month, we are expecting International Certification Team on the Elimination of Guinea Worm in Nigeria.”

Usain Bolt beaten by Justin Gatlin in 100m in Rome

US sprinter Justin Gatlin beat six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt in the men's 100 metres race at the Rome Golden Gala, Diamond League, which took place today. Justin beat Usain by one-hundredth of a second, that's like 1% of a second. Justin actually had to dip his head over the line to win in 9.94 seconds. Usain came in 9.95.

Usain was making his first appearance in the Diamond League this season since his recent recovery from a hamstring injury. Usain explained what happened to him:

"I got the perfect start that I wanted, then about five steps in I stumbled a bit and that kind of threw my game off. My legs didn't feel like my legs coming into the straight. I guess I need to do more strength work. I think I just need time to get it back together but the fact I got a good start threw me off. At least I got under 10 seconds.
"It is always a good thing to lose. You can figure how to step it up. I knew I wasn't in great shape but I'm not worried. It takes time to get back into shape and I didn't expect much from this race." Usain's next race will be in the men's 200m in next Thursday's Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

Saka Will Port Back To Etisalat After 90 Days – CEO Etisalat Nigeria

The Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria Mr.Steve Evans, has described the celebrated porting of the comedian Hafiz Oyetoro popularly known as Saka as a mistake, noting that he will return back to Etisalat fold after 90 days.

Speaking in Lagos yesterday at a media Roundtable on Mobile Number Portability (MNP) , Evans noted that “We all make mistakes in life” and the decision by Saka to port from Etisalat to a rival network MTN Nigeria was one of such mistakes on the part of the comedian.

In what could be regarded as one of the official statement by any high ranking staff of Etisalat since Saka ported over a month ago, Evans said he is hoping Saka would realise his mistakes and port back at the end of the 90 days grace period given by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for subscribers to port back to any other his original network.

The CEO noted that Etisalat was well prepared for the MNP and has built and expanded its network to accommodate over 30 million subscribers which is double its present capacity.

He noted that his company has recorded very impressive results since the MNP kicked off on April22. Though he refused to provide the details but said he was satisfied with the report he was getting from his men on the field.

Furthermore, Evans maintained that his company has improved tremendously in its Key Performance -indicator (KPI) ratings.

University Of Abuja Medical Students Protest For Being In 300 Level After 8 Years

Monday morning, medical students of the University of Abuja blocked entrance to the school, protesting stalled medical programmes at Uniabuja without accreditation.
The students demanded to be transferred to other universities, complaining they were tired of the school authorities “lying to us, deceiving us, wasting our productive years.”
They have also demanded that the university pay each medical student N10 million each in compensation for the “torture” of attending school for nearly a decade without accreditation.
The peaceful protest prompted the cancellation of examinations set for thousands of distance-learning students.
Early on, the students were met with heavy campus security intent on forcing open the school gates, which the protesters had sealed. Students claim security forced the gates open and threw stones at them, with one insisting one of the security officers ‘used a knife’ on him.
Security “broke down the lock we kept on the gate, they started stoning,” he said. “We were on our own. I was sitting in front of the gate. All of a sudden something came on [my back]. I turned back to see what happened, then I saw a cutlass.”
Officials insist school authorities could not have ordered heavy and armed crackdown on protesting students.
Tortured
Moves to accredit medical sciences at University of Abuja have been stalled for long, and students say they cannot afford to keep waiting indefinitely.
“People who were still in secondary school when we started medical school have already graduated, but look at us,” lamented Uchenna. “We just want to be transferred to other schools. Let’s start out lives.”
Their justification for a N10 million compensation comes from how much money they have committed to studies for the past eight years — yearly tuition, off-campus accommodation costing up to N200,000 per year.
“It was never our fault. It was in JAMB brochure we applied for medicine at University of Abuja,” said Uchenna.
Among placards on display, one read: “8 years and still in 300 level”
Without MBBS exams since 2005, the medical students — more than 100 of them so far — have never officially reached their fourth year of medical study.
“Most of our students have been at home for the past five years. It is an infringement on our right to education. All the final-year students in this school met me in this school. For how long will this continue?” asks one student. “I will only leave this school when they gave me transfer, and I want the transfer to be done within the shortest possible time. We are tired of waiting for school management that are inept in getting issues done.”
Another student says: “Because hostel accommodation are not enough, we pay N250,000 every year. This is enough for us to go outside Nigeria to school and we are hoping that one day we will graduate from a university in Nigeria — and someone is sitting upon it playing politics with out future. We want to be transferred from University of Abuja. We have been posted for too long.”

“I’ve never kissed a man in my life” – Babcock’s best graduating student

It was a charged atmosphere at the Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, last Sunday as the institution marked its 11th convocation where 1,359 students were awarded first degrees. Twenty got postgraduate diplomas, 71 obtained Master’s degrees in various disciplines while 41 got PhD degrees in various disciplines.
The hero of the day was a 20-year- old lady, Omobola Oduyoye, who emerged as the best graduating student, after scoring a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.92, out of a possible 5.0.
Oduyoye, an indigene of Ilisan-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state who was awarded a first class Degree in Public Health said after receiving the Senior Vice-President’s Prize as the graduate with the highest overall CGPA, that commitment, discipline, hard work and focus-combined with what she called God’s grace – fetched her the award.
In her words, “Motivation from my parents, lecturers and course mates also helped me. Healthy competition from my course mates such as Akomolafe Damilola, who also obtained a CGPA of 4.60, also enhanced my performance.
“I have a lot of respect for her because she is a mature married woman and a nurse. In spite of her age, she related well with us and she was very focused. Each time I looked at her, I felt like I should ask government to stop admitting fresh secondary school leavers straight into the university. They should be asked to do the A/Level or ordinary diploma programme before they enrol at the university.”
Oduyoye, who aspires to become the nation’s health minister some day, noted that she would change the face of the nation’s health sector, particularly child and maternal health if given the chance.
The fresh graduate said, “I’m from this town. I only lived the first six years of my life in Ghana and since then I’ve been here and I see a lot of challenges poor women and children go through daily. I want to make health delivery accessible, affordable and extremely cheap for our children and women. I will fight corruption in the health sector and ensure that our children and their mother don’t die again from preventable diseases.”
She noted that each time she goes on a field work with her
colleagues, she always ensures that children and young mothers were her target because that’s where her passion lies.
“Though I don’t have money to give them, I always organise seminar and workshop to train them on hygiene, oral health and how to handle preventable diseases. We at times give them off-the-counter drugs. But if God permits and I become the Health Minister, I’ll work hard to ensure better health service delivery for Nigerians,” she added.
Speaking on how she handles pressure from opposite sex, Oduyoye, who is also an alumni of the university’s primary and high schools said, though she had so many male friends, she avoided getting intimate with them.
“I have a number of friends – including male students but I always draw a line between friendship for academic advancement and immoral relationship.
I’m not abusive; neither am I a snub. But I don’t encourage any relationship that will distract me from my studies. I don’t encourage any action that can suggest to you that I’m a cheap
commodity. I also ensure that I don’t go alone anywhere or follow anybody to dark corners even if she is a girl like me.
“It may sound funny to you, I have never kissed anyone in my life and I have not been kissed by anybody. I thank God for the grace He gives me to achieve this because I know that some people will
say it is not easy, but with God all things are possible,” the 20-year-old fresh graduate added.
Oduyoye advised young girls to abstain from sex, face their studies and respect people and honour God. The lady, whose father is also a lecturer in the Business Administration Department at Babcock, had few words for management of the institution.
She stated, “They should relax the rules. Specifically, I don’t see any reason why a female student should not keep long hairs. Do you know it is so bad that security men on campus can stop a student and cut off her hair? This is not good. After all, undergraduates are no longer in the secondary school.”
She also urged the institution to sustain its dress code, though she wants students to be forced into engaging in physical activities. This, she said, is
based on the result of a research she did in her final year.
“I did a project on the effect of physical inactivity among Babcock University students and my findings revealed that many of us were not physically active and this has implication for our academics, health and general wellbeing. The university should therefore invest more in sports and possibly compel everybody to participate in sports.
“They should also reduce the sale of fatty foods such as hamburger, doughnut, eggroll and meat-pie on
campus. The scriptural and inspirational write ups on billboards in open spaces on campus are good but they should add educational health tips too,” she noted.
